Vancouver is a good place to live, according to a ton of metrics. And it's not like its residents don't like to brag . . . er . . . spread awareness about the beautiful weather, countryside, city, etc.
So why can't they draw top tier talent?
In what may seem to be an eerie parallel to some Ottawa folks, apparently Vancouver shares in the plight of not being able to attract top talent.
What better timing to publish this piece then with the resignation of Joe Natale from Telus for the reported reason of not wanting to move his family out west?
This Globe and Mail piece does a great job of giving you a lay of the land in Vancouver tech and how they're trying to overcome the desirability gap. Ottawa should take notes if we want to compete. I mean, Ottawa's a great city but we don't have the Rockies or an ocean to pad our stats.
(*Full disclosure: I'm Toronto born and raised, so a small, small part of me is laughing at those Vancouverites, but I'm still rooting for them!)
