Ottawa-based Klipfolio was watching very closely the night of the debate. But whereas regular viewers were tuned in on what the politicians were saying, Klipfolio wanted to know what you were saying.
By tracking the number of positive and negative mentions via twitter, they were able to determine that Elizabeth May was the winner of hearts and minds in terms of percentage of positive mentions. Tom Mulcaire was on the losing side, it seems.
As technology becomes increasingly more accessible and social media more widespread, it'll be fascinating to see how both politicians and people use figures such as these in the future.
